Thanks to a very skilled (stinky, but skilled) plumber, our sink is no longer filled with standing water. Time to do some dishes...

What's The Cactus Recovery Project?
Jason's Take on the Story:
So we were hanging out at Ikea (one of our favorite places) picking up a few things. We passed the plant section and Julia felt it would be a good idea to get a plant. Her choice was bamboo or cactus. Both almost impossible to kill (she has some plant killing issues). I figured a cactus was cooler than bamboo...so cactus it was. Should have known from the beginning it was a bad idea after it stabbed me numerous times on the ride home. We get back to her apartment and she put the cactus in a bathroom (with no natural light) thinking it was fine. A few weeks later it was quite sickly looking and the cactus finally was put outside on the balcony. It was at this moment the cactus tried to end it's misery. Each day, it leaned closer and closer to the railing. It never made it all the way...but boy did it try. Now that we have a place all to ourselves, we are going to blog about our random day to day life. And hopefully we can keep the cactus alive this time.
Julia's Take on the Story:
The Cactus Recovery Project stemmed (no pun intended) from Jason’s fascination with my green thumb deficiency. He's right--gardening’s not my best thing...yes, I bought a cactus and struggled to keep it alive. And yes, Jason looked at the cactus on the balcony of my 12th floor apartment one summer day and pointed out that looked like it was trying to jump off the balcony. It's true: I had a suicidal cactus. Jason and I started the CRP when we moved in together in November 2009. This project goes way beyond raising sane cacti. We’re homeowners now and it’s time to get our act together. This blog chronicles our adventures as we start a wonderful, “suicidal cacti-free” home.

Don't say we didn't warn you
We created this blog as a means of recording random happenings, as we establish our first home. In 10 years, we want to have something to look back on, more for humor and entertainment than anything else. Friends and family are encouraged to take the journey with us, as we post tidbits every few days. We promise to do our best to make the contents of CRP interesting, fun, silly, and ridiculous. But sorry, we can't guarantee posts will be even remotely consequential.
