We had house guests the weekend before last--Jason's brother Howard, his fiance Madalene, her daughter Alyssa, and their new baby Austin. It was so fun to spend time and share our home with them! Austin was the first baby to ever take a bath in our kitchen sink! We forgot to take a photo of them all on the guest bed, but take my word for it that they got some good sleep on that bed!
In the past few weeks we (well, it was really all Jason) have done some major improvements in the yard. 6 pallets (576 blocks) later, we have a large retaining wall along the west side of our property. After one final delivery of 15 square yards of dirt tomorrow (and a few dudes to shovel it in place this weekend) we will have a flat yard! It looks so great, and makes the whole space look so much bigger. Jason has been such an amazing project manager, and is basically obsessed with working in the yard--it's been extremely impressive, fun to watch, and makes realize once again just how wonderful J is. He will post some photos in the next day or two.
In other home news, we had our first official "dinner party." It was spur of the moment, but two other couples came over and we chef-ed up a gourmet meal--with a wonderful meatloaf recipe from the cookbook Jason's mom gave us a few days earlier. Cooking a big dinner is hard in our small kitchen, but we make it work. (After two episodes of clogging the sink, I decided I was better off washing the big stuff out in the yard with the hose. Yep--it worked swimmingly!)

I'm guessing the baby would clog the sink as well, so you might want to consider hosing him off in the yard next time too.
